▼ PARADOXICAL MATERIAL
In the piece series of a recent work,I spend much production time on removing "a material feeling" of paint and surface as much as possible to have you watch "structure" set in the work of boxiness. I expect it so that a work functions as a device acting on a general idea of the watching people by it is separated by the material world such as"What is it made of ?" "Is it hard ? or soft ?" , then it becomes a neutral object. However,by the process, I become covered with powder by repetition of painting and polishing and painting and... And, when the material feeling of the work is erased somehow and it is exhibited, I receive a lot of following questions from the spectator. "What is it made of ?" "Is it hard ? or soft ?" |
